For a morning news program, I independently put together weekly reported pieces. I arranged, filmed, host, and edited this piece featuring the team at the Boston Parks Department who grows the plants and flowers that populate 60 flower beds in the Boston Public Gardens in a greenhouse on the city's edge.
Below is a sampling of the wide range of work that I produce, host, report for WBUR.

Zoë Mitchell
Journalist, Storyteller, Connector

I am a communications professional and current radio journalist. I am passionate about creating connection through storytelling and conversation, and reaching as many people as possible.
That's what I do every day in my current position at WBUR, Boston's NPR Station. I help produce the station's award-winning newsmagazine and call-in program, 'Radio Boston.' I research, write, and coordinate radio interviews and conversations on breaking news, regional issues, and culture. Two programs I produced won Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in 2019.
I also love creating audio-rich narrative segments out in the community. Highlights include a profile of a climate-resilient housing complex, an interview with the new director of a local science museum, and a retelling of a family's history during the Great Migration through pound cake.
In 2017, I completed my Masters of Science in Journalism at Boston University. My primary focus was on television and audio storytelling, where my capstone was a short documentary film exploring President Trump's treatment of the journalists and the media during the 2016 election.
I have experience as a production assistant at PBS/WETA’s weekly news program, 'Washington Week,' where I worked with Gwen Ifill. I helped compile research for Ms. Ifill, assisted with the launch of a new website for the program, and aided in the control room during live broadcasts.
I'm always trying to learn all I can about how best to reach and connect with an audience, and have enjoyed exploring advertising and marketing design in my spare time with Boston University.
When I'm not working, I'm kickboxing, making homemade greeting cards, or at the beach.
